Monarchs beat Tigers

Edinburgh were given a fright by a determined Glasgow side at Armadale. The match went to a last heat decider but there was never any real doubt about the outcome with Robert Eriksson and Peter Carr in dominant form. Carr and Eriksson duly deliverd a 5-1 to secure the match. Carr took an untroubled full maximum while Eriksson had an equally easy paid maximum.

Glasgow may have made things a bit closer but for the absence through injury of James Grieves. His replacement Simon Stead only scored one paid two from three rides. However, in that case Glasgow would have been unable to use the tactical substitutions that brought them two of their five heat wins.

Ross Brady did ride and while he showed hints of his old form, he appeared to tire in his last ride. Monarchs also suffered mechanically with two more engine failures for Christian Henry while Kevin Little toiled on borrowed equipment. Blair Scott and Christian Henry both started badly but finished strongly.

Glasgow were well served by Les Collins and Richard Juul with support from Aidan Collins, Emiliano Sanchez and Sean Courtney. It was Sean's farewell appearance before being replaced in the Glasgow team by brother Mark.

It was also a last Monarchs' appearance for Brian Turner before being replaced.
