Ross Brady told to take a break

Ross Brady has been ordered to take a complete break from speedway to give time for his injured foot to heal. Brady originally was going to pull out of the Premier National Trophy match at Workington but changed his mind and came out. He was obviously struggling to walk when he was introduced to the crowd. He had one pointless ride before being ruled out of the meeting by the Workington track doctor.

Ross had been struggling for form even before his injury. He had a good meeting at Sheffield and did reasonable well in the early Armadale fixtures but struggled at times. Notable was his poor show in the British Under-21 Final at Armadale. Ross had not produced the consistent.

The lack of points from the number 4 position, both when rider replacement was in operation and since his premature comeback.

Ross added:

"I've been riding like a fool, but now I realize that I must take a complete break from racing. I need to regain my fitness, not only for myself, but for the whole team."

If Ross misses this Friday's match against Glasgow and the away and home fixtures against Newcastle, Monarchs will use rider replacement. This will give one ride each for Kevin Little and for Blair Scott plus two from the reserves. These may help Kevin, Blair, and Christian to sharpen their form.

Most of the remainder of May is scheduled for Premier National Trophy group qualifiers with a Yorkshire mini-tour to Hull and Sheffield followed by home matches against the same opponents Hull and Sheffield are just the sort of tracks that Edinburgh need Ross Brady.

Edinburgh will want Brady back to fitness and form by the end of May so that the team is fully comepetitive when the Premier League campaign opens at Arena Essex. Monarchs will be back at Purfleet two weeks later to open their defence of the Premier League Cup.

The Monarchs team was built on the assumption of Ross scoring solidly from number 4 and possibly challenging Kevin Little for a heat leaders' racejacket. It is no wonder that results so far in the Premier National Trophy are not coming up to expectations.
