Monarchs maul Bandits

Monarchs stayed in contention for a qualification place in the Premie National Trophy after beating a strong Berwick side at Armadale for their first competitive win of the season. Monarchs were made to work very hard for the bonus points by the battling Bandits. Inspired by Alan Mogridge, Berwick forced Edinburgh to to last heat decider to settle the destination of the bonus point. Monarchs needed a last heat 5-1 that was only settled after a controversial decision to exclude Mogridge for taking Erikssson into the third bend fence. Berwick protested long and loud but that was to no avail. David Meldrum made the gate in the restart but was passed by Carr and Eriksson on either side of him on the first lap.

Ross Brady struggled on his comeback but Christian Henry had a brilliant match with wins in heat two and heat four on his way to a score of seven paid eight.
