There will be a special interest in Friday night's match between Edinburgh and the Czech Republic as Monarchs had earmarked Czech youngsters Adrian Rymel (24) and Josef Franc (21) as riders they see as potential future signings, should they impress on the current tour. Monarchs may need at least one new heat leader next year as Robert Eriksson may not be riding in the UK in 2001. Also Peter Carr keeps threatening to retire!
Adrian Rymel has already suggested that the Monarchs' talent spotting has hit the mark by top scoring with 13 points in the Czechs' first match at Exeter, which they lost heavily. Joseph Franc was not in the team at Exeter.
The visitors from Eastern Europe were suffering from tiredness in the first match of their tour, and hoped to do much better as the tour continues at Sheffield, but were victims of a rainoff at Owlerton.
They will be hoping for better luck with the weather at Armadale on Friday and Workington on Saturday.
