Monarchs will not be rushed

Edinburgh are not in a hurry to name their number 7 rider and complete their team.

David McAllan has finally had his long-awaited knee operation on January 11th and has started the process of recovery. However he will not be returning to action until he is fully fit. McAllan commented in Speedway Star:

"I've had the ligaments replaced, I'm off the crutches, and I've had the brace removed, so it is just a case of waiting to see how quickly I recover. I'm not not going to rush back onto the track before I'm ready, but I will be back. That's the reason I had the operation, I didn't have it to then give up the sport. But I've no idea when it will be and I won't be rushing it."

Edinburgh are happy with this this cautious approach even if it means he will be unlikely to start the season. Monarchs have just under four points to play with for this last place. They are in no hurry to fill this place. Brian Turner and Jon Swales are likely contenders. It seems unlikely that either can fit into another northern Premier League side so there is no immediate rush. Glasgow have a place for a four-point plus second string, Berwick have only room for three point reserve. Workington have completed their side as have Sheffield. Newcastle will be looking for a six-point second string. Hull could be a possibility for either rider should they be admitted to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Christian Henry appears likely to pull out of the Queensland Open championship. This constitutes a round in the Australian Championship. If he rides in the event he is liable to be lumbered with a 9.00 point Assessed Premier League Average rather than the 3.00 points he is currently on. This will be a disappointment to those who have observed his current red-hot form.

Kevin Little has been invited to compete in the annual ice racing spectacular at Telford on Sunday February 13th. Kevin had some experience of ice racing when he did a stint in the United States series this time last year.
