This Web Site started life in March 1998. It took over from the previous official site maintained by David Murray. The site was originally hosted by Edinburgh University. Difficulties with updating the site led to a move of the bulk of the content to the callnetuk.com location in January 1999.
The edinburghmonarchs.org.uk domain name was established later in the year. The callnetuk.com site was maintained as a 'mirror' site during the transition and up to the end of the year. It is in the process of being restructured to house the site archives plus any download material.
The site received 20,500 hits over the twelve months starting with the relaunch of the site in late January 1999.
Helen Lowe was responsible for the original structure of the site and the HTML code and for maintaining the site when it was in the previous Edinburgh University location.
John Lowe is responsible for the editorial side and match reports.
Geoff Chandler produces the 'Stats Fantastic' and was responsible for many of the graphics included on the site.
Mike Hunter is press officer for the Monarchs Promotion and contributes to the match reports.
Information for this site comes from a variety of sources including Monarchs press releases and items published in the press. Many stories and interviews have been first published in Speedway Star and the Edinburgh Evening News. Much information has come from the contributers to the speedway@egroups.com and the speedway-l electronic mailing lists. Other web sites, particularly the official British Speedway Promoters Association site also provides information. Many thanks to John Campbell for providing news items.
