Laurent Fignon looking comfortable during the shortest stage of the 89 Tour. The 60 mile stage from Bourg d' Oison to Villard de lans, ended up being one of the most exciting stages of the 1989 tour. Just after this photo was taken Fignon launched a solo attack gaining 50 seconds over Lemond at the finish. Most people thought that would be the winning move of the tour, but Lemond gained a suprising victory on the final stage 3 days later.
The Once squad in action during the team time-trial stage of the 1993 tour. Bruyneel is trying to gain the attention of his team mechanic in the car behind. He had to stop 100 yards further on to change a wheel and afterwards had to chase alone to join his colleagues further up the climb.
The strength shown by Bjarne Riis during the 96 tour suprised everyone concerned, especially Miguel Indurain who for the first time in five years failed to live up to expectations. This photo was taken during the mountain time trial stage from ..........
The only cyclists who managed to get to the top of the Galibier on stage 8 of the tour were Warren and myself. Due to heavy snow the TDF organisers decided the roads would be too dangerous for the riders to ride on. Us being hard men decided to try and get over the Galibier but had a nasty suprise waiting for us at the top. We did have to turn back at the top as the road had turned to a sheet of ice and there was no way we could have got over the other side in a snow storm.
